Carlie Strawn, daughter of Dave and Toni, is a precious, precocious and loving tri colored hound from Kingston, Ga.  At somewhere between 9-11 years old years old she rules the Strawn home including the youngins,  Peony, Tate, and her Scotty sibling Darby.  A happy girl in a happy, if sometimes chaotic home.  Can you imagine a better life?  Well, it wouldn’t be that way for Carlie without Basset Hound Rescue of Georgia.

Carlie thanks God every day that she was rescued.  Her mom Toni says that when she came into rescue she was almost feral and had to be lured out of the car with a hot dog.  For the first few years of her life Carlie lived in Savannah in a back yard with a pit bull. At feeding time her owners threw food over the fence.  You can only imagine the scramble that resulted, and sweet little 26-pound Carlie didn’t stand a chance. She was mauled by the pitbull who was probably starving too. Even after all these years the bite scars are still evident on her sweet body.  Poor little girl was brought to the vet by her owners who relinquished her and BHRG stepped in.  Although it was an uphill battle for Carlie to heal and become ready for adoption, after several months, still people shy, she was ready.

Carlie loves her mom but she’s a true Daddy’s girl.  Dave spotted Carlie at the Basset Bash in 2019 and that was all it took.  Carlie left for her home in the north Georgia mountains that afternoon destined for the dream life that hounds deserve.  Toni and Dave are not only amazing parents, they are also big supporters of basset rescue.  Skilled in wood working and other crafts, their creations have raised money for BHRG and other rescues across the country.

Carlie knows there are hounds out there that are still suffering, and she wants to do her part.  As a senior herself, she has a soft spot for Senior Houndsabound. That’s why she is running for a spot on the 2025 calendar.

Please consider voting for Carlie.  No amount is too small.  She appreciates the love and support of all who help basset rescue.  As her friend Aiken T. Hound was known to say, “It’s all about the houndies EVERYWHERE!”
